Suny Oswego - Oz Thrift Program

Meet Ken Dennison, Building Coordinator of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, alongside Katherine S. Spector, Director of Sustainability at Facilities Services, SUNY Oswego. Katherine manages the annual Oz Thrift program on campus, which plays a vital role in collecting food, cleaning supplies, personal care items, clothing, and housewares left behind by students. These items are then redistributed to the community, providing essential support through initiatives such as a large "garage sale" for returning and incoming students.

This year, Kate delivered another significant contribution to CCOC, including food, cleaning supplies, and personal care items, which were sorted for distribution in the pantry, homeless bags, and a free table for those experiencing food instability. Items were also organized for Community Services, the Thrift Store, and the free table, ensuring basic needs are met for those in need.

Clothing Distribution

Friday, 9/13/24 - Under the direction of Kate Spector, Sustainability Manager at SUNY Oswego, Ken Dennison, Building and Safety Manager of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, and Maxon Ali, SUNY Oswego Student, coordinate efforts to sort and distribute clothing donated by campus students. The clothing received by Catholic Charities will be available via the agency Thrift Store. The clothing was offered to Catholic Charities at the end of an annual ‘indoor sale’ offered to campus students. It’s all part of the campus sustainability and community connections efforts!
